Fats Domino Here Comes Fats

Not well understood: you talk about origins and don’t want names to be mentioned, or rather, you want names to be mentioned, like those of Berry, which confirm your thesis that has everything to be what in philosophy is called a "circular argument," that is, taking for granted what still needs to be proven. The discourse you make, passionate and persuasive for some, resembles much more a myth, in the original sense of the term, but for me it does not correspond to reality. Everything that arises in modern music owes a lot to the terrible slavery, which was also, however, a fusion of cultures, traditions, and histories. Saying that rock 'n' roll was created by black people might have an effect, but it is, at least for me, a distortion and a simplification.
And long live Fats Domino and New Orleans.

And Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran were black or white? Let's see if you can guess...

I would like to point out to the anonymous that the name Berry is fine for supporting the thesis of caz, but Bill Haley is whiter than a milk carton. "Rock Around The Clock" ring a bell? Don't throw out names you don't know!!

Microdisney, High Llamas...I believe you knew that they couldn't miss from my record collection. I don't have this album, but I really liked "Beet, Maize &...". Congratulations!

Kosmo, I would give you a kiss. You have provided a historical anchor to what I have tried to express in previous posts, perhaps not very clearly. I do not share caz's assumption, not because I want to downplay the essential contribution of African American culture to the origins of the musical genres he mentions and their development, but because I find it incorrect to say that modern music was invented exclusively by Black Americans. The unfortunate city where, according to caz, that music originated is the clearest evidence that its roots are not solely of ebony, but also Creole and multi-ethnic.

Well! This talk about the exclusive merits of African Americans in the foundation of genres like rock 'n' roll doesn't quite resonate with me. For me, Robert Johnson "weighs" as much as Woody Guthrie, Chuck Berry as much as Jerry Lee Lewis or Buddy Holly. American culture as a whole is the result of the encounter and clash of various cultures, and music is no exception. Even the king Elvis is the product of this hybridization (country + blues + gospel).

I don't share the same Manichean view of American music, (the "pale face" Dr. John, for example, is among the best expressions of the typical sound, Creole and not just Black, of the impoverished city) much more "mixed" and hybrid than he implies. Anyway, the Saints no longer march in New Orleans, and who knows when they'll return to keep great Fats company.
P.S. Bush is one of the worst presidents in U.S. history, but I don't know to what extent he can be held responsible for a catastrophe that has practically half-destroyed a city. Bush’s responsibilities lie elsewhere.

I fully share odra's judgment. This is a "seminal" album, as Sylvian says, which, for my part, is the best of Massive, even though I really appreciate "Protection" and "Mezzanine." Every now and then I have to listen to those "little bells" from "Unfinished Sympathy": it's stronger than me.

What a day, guys! As they say, I wouldn't wish it even on my worst enemy. Your comments are a breath of fresh air and patch up the "gaps" in my review.
I’ll just add that, indeed, at the time, the praise from a certain press may have been exaggerated, but the current dismissal, because that’s what it is, in a period where nothing from the '80s is thrown away, like the famous pig, makes you think.

This album was recommended to me a while ago by a dear friend: I'm still thanking him.
