Surely yes, even if definitely more heterogeneous. But by now, knowing me, you will have guessed that for me this can be a gift.
Donovan The Very Best Of Donovan
Voto:
Donovan is among the most "plundered" pop authors, yet whose merits are always underappreciated. And he hasn't just written the evergreen "Mellow Yellow," for which he is known by many.
Johann Sebastian Bach - Mischa Maisky Suites Per Violoncello 1-6

You know, it’s not that strange. Thomas Bernhard, when he was young, was a talented pianist and attended a master class in Salzburg with the great Horowitz, along with Gould and a third gifted friend, the "loser" of the title. Both emerged devastated from their encounter with the Canadian genius, but the friend would never recover and would begin a descent into the depths of the spirit that would lead him to suicide.

It’s a superfluous emphasis, but even the most blatant ignorance has its gradations.

I, certainly more than you, am a "discreet ignoramus" who buys and occasionally listens to classical music, without following a coherent path, but letting myself be guided both by intellectual curiosity and by the recommendations of some passionate friends, as well as by my readings (my encounter with the "Goldberg Variations" performed by Gould happened thanks to Thomas Bernhard's novel, "Il soccombente"). Your narrative is well-written and enjoyable to read. I will try to find Maisky's performance, an artist I only know by reputation. However, I should have the 6 suites in Yo Yo Ma's interpretation, who is also quite good.

Recently, I've been enjoying the Return To Forever by Corea again. I think I’ll revisit this classic as well.

Of course it does: it's the same person! If you had read my review of the Porcupine, you would have known. :-)

The title without "the," pardon.

To be precise, he is the only one of the duo under the name D.B., but they have released at least four others as Jansen-Barbieri. Highly recommended is the one from 1991, "Stories Across The Borders" (just the title is enough to carry out a search).

I’m glad that this album, which we talked about with Sylvian (who else? :-) ) in another review, is being remembered. I'm not too convinced by the conclusion, nor do I share the overall judgment that I find too harsh, in my opinion. If by "cunning" one means a work that winks too much at the market, I don't think that's true; Jansen-Barbieri were so cunning that this became the first and the last of the duo. And I also don't think "pretentious" does justice because, on the contrary, I believe one of the qualities of the album is precisely that it doesn't overdo it, that it manages to align itself, if you will, with artistic goals. I give it a 5 also to slightly raise the average.
P.S. For lovers of trivia, the real names of the Sylvian-Jansen brothers are Batt.
