Pleasant and well-produced album, "the big exit" and "bricks and mortar" actually evoke Joy Division. However, the voice of the Editors' singer doesn't resemble Curtis's timbre much, which was also far less technical. It's still an album with a very polished production despite the dark atmospheres, and I think this is what makes it hard to digest for many. The nods to the synths of New Order are noticeable and I don't mind how they've been contextualized. A 3.5 album, a slightly weak review.
