Cocorosie Noah's Ark
Voto:
It was time to take a shot at these overrated Cocorosie. They're everywhere on the covers of alternative magazines without having done anything to deserve it. Even live, they didn't impress me much. The first half hour was decent, but after that, you just can't stand their constant squawking. Plus, live there was a black guy who at one point pulled out an embarrassing rap.
Stars Set Yourself On Fire

What timing! I'm actually listening to this album these days, and your review is spot on. I’ve rarely read so many relatable remarks in a review. I agree with everything. I encourage anyone who loves quality pop to listen to/get the record because it deserves it. Too bad about the anonymous name (Stars) and the ugly cover.
Jovanotti Lorenzo 1994
Voto:
He is an opportunist. No one can simultaneously wave the flag of Che Guevara and the Pope without being the most shameless, disgraceful opportunist on earth. Che Guevara and the Pope, coincidentally the two most beloved icons in Italy. A coincidence?
Furthermore, he has the ugliest voice in the history of music.
Rejected as a person and as a musician.
New Order Waiting For The Sirens' Call

Anyway, ptr in the post above, can you confirm a doubt I had after reading your review? You mentioned in parentheses (have the New Order ever said anything?) and that clarifies everything. You're not someone who loved the New Order and is now disappointed. You're someone who doesn’t like the music of the New Order. That makes it different. I can easily take the latest U2 album and say it’s crap (having always liked U2 very little) just like with a thousand other bands I don’t like. But in the end, what sense does it make? Maybe you liked Joy Division and you never digested the pop turn. That’s fine, you’re completely free to feel that way, but then your judgment isn’t really about the latest New Order album, but about that original bias.
The Libertines The Libertines
Voto:
Unfortunately, it seems to me that deluding oneself is pointless. The Libertines are done. Pete has become what was feared: a sideshow attraction good only for the tabloids. His new band, the Babyshambles, is an awful thing. Truly obscene.
The Libertines R.I.P.

the review is somewhat unbalanced. that's all. the album is far inferior to the previous one, which I must say, was quite valid. yet it’s not a 1.
Stereolab Mars Audiac Quintet
Voto:
I certainly respect tastes, but what Airone says is absolutely right. The review is a bit lacking when it comes to properly placing the Stereolab sound. The krautrock sound (especially Neu!) is in vogue now and many are reclaiming it (not least the new Caribou), but it has never been done with the personality and taste of Stereolab. The key to understanding "Mars Audiac" is precisely the repetition, or rather the micro-variations on repeated sound lines. It may not be the best Stereolab album, but it is a very interesting and also enjoyable record.
The Beatles Please please me

rec. shareable. it’s certainly not a great album. however, it is pleasant and contains at least one great song: I saw her standing there still travels today, which is a wonder.

too bad. I found them intriguing. good review. right coordinates. here you can listen to 3 full tracks: 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
but I didn't like it. to the music is a bore. I get it: 3 bass notes à la Joy Division for 5 minutes can be tiring, but...
New Order Live Traffic Festival - Torino 02/07/2005

Power corruption might be nice but a bit dated. Lowlife is indeed perhaps the best. I also really like the 2001 album Get Ready; I think it was a great comeback. However, it's true that New Order have always been more of a singles band than an albums one. That's why the setlist in Turin, being somewhat of a best of, turned out to be remarkable.
