Eh, there's definitely a lot to say about Common... I really love "One Day It'll All Make Sense," which is already quite old (it's from '97, if I remember correctly), and I prefer it much more to other more recent and praised albums...

Look, I listened to "The New Danger" as soon as it was released, and it only partly convinced me... All those tracks where he sings and experiments with Rock make me think of pressure from the label (Geffen Records, the same as Sonic Youth, just to give you an idea...), to cater to a more varied and diverse audience... Unsuccessful attempts, in my opinion; coincidentally, the best part of the album is precisely the one that leans more towards Hip-Hop...

I know about the arrest through the news, but I haven't seen the video... As for Mr. Mos's new productions, they had already left me perplexed after "The New Danger," so I preferred to let it be... I like to think of Mos Def as one of the stars of the defunct (and revived) Rawkus Records, at the end of the '90s; the rest doesn't even come close to those glories, alas....
