I'm not entirely in agreement with the Captain either... "Mezzanine" seems to me to be the album of absolute maturity for Massive Attack, a maturity born from a compactness and sonic homogeneity that, in my opinion, is lacking in "Blue Lines" (which I prefer, anyway), and "Protection," which I instead find absolutely overrated (forgive my choice of words)...

Flavor Flav also collaborated with De La Soul on "The Grind Date," in a track produced by Madlib... But I can't stand him a bit, though! :-))

@Ghem: I find Tosca's music much more accessible, honestly. Peace Orchestra is a much more refined project, sound-wise, with some decidedly non-easy moments... As for the musical influences of Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber, they were initially much more oriented towards Dub (the same "Suzuki" was released with a Dub twin back in the day), while in their last two works they have tried to renew their sound, winking at more danceable and uptempo tones (see "Delhi 9")... There's also another extremely interesting side project involving Peter Kruder, Voom:Voom (the other members are Christian Prommer and Roland Appel), who released their first album last year, "Peng Peng," after a couple of 12-inches, "Poppen" and "Ginger & Fred," which had caught attention years earlier... I also find them more interesting than the more well-known Tosca, and you can really dance to their music... ;-)

@Lariana: "Mezzanine" is one of my favorite albums, no ifs or buts about it... An album that frightens with its darkness, but from which, through its strength, instead... One of the cornerstones of 90s Electronica, and then there’s "Risingson"....

More studied and full of "Mezzanine"? An absolutely personal opinion... An album I like halfway: after the first four or five tracks, it bores me tremendously....

"You are excrement, you can change yourself into gold".... A visionary, raw film that is incredibly ahead of its time, making it difficult to grasp even today... Thanks to Rarovideo for releasing the uncut version, in the original language with subtitles, and in Italian... Beautiful, Stronko! :-)
