"John Lennon, who remains a brilliant rocker in his genre," made me almost laugh... I've never listened to his experimental records, but even if they were a flop, I forgive him everything...

beautiful the definition of gestalt band, the album is delightfully twisting...

An unbearable film, with horror stuck in a kind of parlor stylization, the narrators descending the stairs like Wanda Osiris, the gentlemen writing regulations and keeping the punishment books updated while citing Baudelaire like bored intellectuals. And those chilling final scenes, cooled (reinforced?) by a kind of distance, are already the society of the spectacle, a spectacle like any other; just change the radio channel (now the TV channel) and there’s the jingle. Pasolini starts from the horror of power in 1975 and then makes it a kind of eternal X-ray of power (forever and ever). However, despite being completely devoid of hope, thanks to the denunciation never so clear of bodies reduced to things, it remains a deeply (although perhaps uselessly) Marxist film. Moreover, aside from some individual rebellions (the boy who dies with his fist raised, the pianist who jumps out of the window, a distant – and also useless – idea of God), the substantial flattening of the victims appears just as clear, if not even their progressive (inevitable?) corruption. In short, we eat shit, getting more and more accustomed to the taste. Also, because deep down we all know that it’s not really about that shit; Salò is merely a metaphor to try to make us understand. The modern version of the masters, the maitresses, the collaborators is definitely more refined. As for you Casp, it seems you've gone too esoteric. This, perhaps, is his simplest film.
