I wouldn’t throw "Simpatico" away either; however, I’m missing this collection. Great band and long live Slumberland, even though right now I really can’t listen to albums of that kind.

Until "The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter," they don't miss a beat. This is their undisputed peak. You can always count on them.

I don’t understand, come on, are you saying that "Child Of The Future" is more inspired than this? You would be the first I hear say these words, as well as one of its few supporters (if you really are).

I don't see much evolution in the post "Phanerothyme" either, but paradoxically, I see a collective growth (therefore evolution, even in terms of sound) in the latest work compared to, say, "Black Hole Black Canvas" and especially "Little Lucid Moment." Two albums that, in relative terms, operate within these same coordinates.

After further listens, I believe I’m starting to understand it better. It’s lively, emphatic, almost as the Massive have never been (in certain cases, and here it’s rightly different from now, cold). "Pray For Rain" seems to me the best example in this regard. The ability to reinvent themselves, starting from their roots, doing cut up; all of this still makes them capable of looking down on everyone. And the sounds? That distinctly electronic percussiveness, those synths never overbearing. No, I’m beginning to take it a bit too seriously. If this 2010 starts like this (I hope it won’t be the usual annual phrase due to the excitement from psychological violence by favorite bands, see Motorpsycho).

Did you know that this has probably been sitting on my hard drive for a long time?

Great review, nice links, and unfortunately, it comes at my wrong time; about a year ago around this time I was in full Noise Pop, Indie Pop, Shoegaze phase, call it what you will. Slumberland, Sahara Records, and so on. I'll come back!

I basically agree with Maci's line of thought, and I'll tell you, lately - at this moment - this is what I prefer. I don't want to be struck by the fanaticism of a favorite band, but let's say it’s been a while since they touched these chords.

"Let Them Eat Cake" four stars even if it takes the easy route!

The terms of comparison are what they are, especially my beloved Pavement. I'll give it a try!
