THE REVIEW

Years pass for everyone. But not for Motorpsycho. In twenty years of honorable career, few have been the downturns in the vast discography of the three Norwegians. I have always found that their greatest strength is the ability to reinvent themselves, drawing from the lessons they themselves established in previous albums. And if it's true that "Little Lucid Moment" could be considered the polished twin of "Black Hole Black Canvas," this "Heavy Metal Fruit" positions itself right between the last, celebratory and self-contained, "Child Of The Future" and the aforementioned "Little Lucid Moment." With much more inspiration, sagacity, and unity of purpose. There is a path of acid and raw remnants, through which the core of the album winds.

Progressive tracks ready to first unfurl in heart-pounding riff stories, children of the Seventies, and subsequently in long jams with a predominant psychedelic origin. Illustrative in this regard is the concluding suite "Gullible’s Travails," where the sonic power trio afflicted by the Parkinson’s disease of hyper-productivity manages to squeeze everything in, succeeding in recreating—even in a possibly more evolved manner—a suite comparable to the productions prior to the new millennium. Further demonstrations of versatility can be considered "X-3 (Knuckleheads In Space)/The Getaway Special" which, in its first part, bastardizes the cavalcade of "Barracuda," retaining its distinctly Pop side, and in the second part, deconstructs it through a sudden Jazz orientation that will also make a stop in the long intro of "W.B.A.T,” a futuristic live battle horse; a role perfectly shared with the dazzling opener "Starhammer," probably one of the best compositions since the times of "Barracuda."

Never giving in are Motorpsycho. They will certainly spark discussion, but one thing is certain, the path taken by them in the past four years has found its circle. Everything is in the right place, unidirectional yet at the same time multidirectional. More alive than ever.
