Damn, Carey’s "Lucifer" is a masterpiece of Vertigo comics, good job Ghemison! I also really liked "Fables"... as for the gay guy, I loved Sandman so much, I’ve never read this one... I’ll get to it eventually. Right now I’m obsessed with Katami’s "Battle Royal." Powerful.

I have to compliment you because, as usual, your choices are never trivial. However, I don't agree with everything in your review. Let's go in order: you compare them to U2, Brand New, SDRE. They have nothing in common with the first (thank goodness), with the second, while they may be comparable genre-wise, not really, and the third, well, I've always considered them extremely mediocre and overrated. Because, and here comes my point, Appleseed Cast are an IMMENSE band. It's reductive to pigeonhole them into the first emo category, even though that genre has produced excellent bands (any names? the same BN, Elliott, Mineral, Braid, Texas Is The Reason, Sensefield) that are now too quickly forgotten. The AC distanced themselves from that almost immediately, starting with their second album "Mare Vitalis," embarking on an audacious and fascinating sonic exploration. Post rock, electronics, meaty rock, melancholy: that's what AC is. If I had to compare them to someone, I would compare them to Radiohead, certainly not U2. This could be considered their "Ok Computer." An immense band, I repeat, absolutely worth rediscovering.

Ah ah! Well, some nights I'm so tired that I don't go beyond the preliminaries, so... anyway, getting serious: I'm listening to "My Demons" by Distance, it's nice.

I generally agree with your assessment of the film, but I would describe it as downright mediocre rather than halfway successful. It lacks the pathos, that's true. The only redeeming quality is the undeniable skill of the two protagonists.
