x surferkangaroo: Being too technical to describe a group that not everyone knows, I don’t think would be productive; even using the term clipping can confuse those who don’t, obviously, understand mixing, so I think for such things it’s better to be a bit more streamlined and let the listener grasp the album in the way they best see fit: some listen to enjoy something beautiful, while others love to trace the genres that are in between, but I don’t like to list them in reviews or do track by track; always clear that these are opinions!
x nes: essentially, clipping occurs when an instrument is recorded at volumes exceeding sustainable levels; you hear crackles or hiss, and in winamp, for example, with a frequency visualizer, the waves turn square, or the bars reach (and exceed) the red limit.
