The problem with today's horrors is that they are no longer capable of creating "monsters" like Freddy that are imperishable. It’s not enough to make sequels to turn someone into a boogeyman, the bogeyman of a generation. In the end, you pull away Freddy, Michael Myers, Jason, Leatherface (to a lesser extent), and there’s no one left.
