Probably one of the worst films I have ever had the misfortune to watch. And the discussion could end here.
If it weren't for the fact that this film has instead aroused, in certain socio-cultural circles, enthusiasm and discussions... Why?
Some have seen in Albanesi's directorial debut the Italian equivalent of the birth of the new wave of French horror cinema, such as High Tension, Frontiérs, Calvaire, À l'intérieur, Sheitan, Martyrs.
Unfortunately, unlike all these fine films, which, starting from known themes and conventions, have embarked on a personal and certainly modern and innovative discourse, this film demonstrates nothing other than the reinterpretation of what was the golden age of Italian horror, of the likes of Fulci, Bava, Argento, but without, of course, their originality and historical-social timing.
Therefore, if we want to understand it as an honest homage to genre cinema, produced on a budget, to be a gem of citations for enthusiasts, then a completed sense can be found in the discourse undertaken by the authors. However, if one wants to see in this work the rebirth of a genre, we're on the wrong path.
The beautiful settings chosen, between the Castelli Romani and hills, are not enough. Sergio Stivaletti's effects, though respectable, are too anchored to the past to elevate a film heavily marred by the poor acting of almost all the actors. A few humorous ideas are not enough to make a plot, which is simply a poor copy-paste of dozens of other plots, more believable or self-ironic.
In conclusion, a poor taste of ordinary food, passed off as nouvelle cousine, is not what interests me.

My penchant for trash takes over.
By taking it lightly or not at all seriously, this is how this film should be viewed to be appreciated.
