Since the nineties, Kravitz has been recycling the same album. Every time I hear a new track of his on the radio, I can’t place it. It could have come from any of his records. Aside from "circus," he has become rather inconsistent for me. Moreover, I really don’t believe he’s had any issues regarding his skin color. He was well integrated into the "upper" society of America. The son of showbiz people (the famous Helen from The Jeffersons), accustomed to color diversity. We’re not talking about Malcolm X here...

In my opinion, you didn’t understand anything about this film and its language. The mere fact that you chose the scene of the child singing as a symbolic moment shows that you missed its underlying meaning. Visually, the film is very successful with some truly impactful sequences. For example, I found the scene of the telephone receiver being passed between the woman at the window and the dark girl to be “definitive.” The plot is merely a “background” to a film that predominantly has an aesthetic and aestheticizing value. It’s not all perfect (the best in this sense at the moment is Kim Ki-duk, in my opinion), but it's certainly a film that leaves you with something to reflect on.

Interesting film. It didn't fully engage me. Sean Penn is fantastic, as is the direction and the soundtrack. However, it felt a bit cold. In the style of Sorrentino, it left me with something unresolved.
