Look, you said some accurate things, I see you know the genre, but it’s also true that you’re getting confused about various things (it’s not like you have to contradict everything just for the sake of it). The trend is the same, that is – narrowing it down – French electro, bangers, kitsune, and other stuff that (some more than others) all draw from the Homework and Daft Punk style in general (to be vague). Well, Justice (who are undoubtedly among the most positive things in recent years, and there's no doubt about that) didn’t invent anything, it’s not "inexplicably rare to find stuff like this", they don’t have the "unique style" that Daft Punk had back in '97, because they only continued the dialogue initiated by the latter, and similar stuff has been produced in tons even before their boom (clearly, the mentioned ones also did some different things, but we’re still talking about "the same trend"). Let’s name a few others besides Soulwax, which I agree on; take Yuksek, Tacteel, Kavinski, Digitalism, Boyz Noize... how can you say they’re completely different?! You’ll find at least one production in their releases that sounds just like any Justice track. (I’ve linked some in the bottom of the post and they are the first ones that come to mind*). Keep in mind that it’s not that if someone uses the 909 kick and the 303 à la Daft, while another one throws in a distorted Moog with a fashionista singer, they become different. Justice is great, that’s obvious, but why pretend that there aren’t similar things in the landscape? ParaOne is true, he’s the only one who proposes definitely different stuff, ("he doesn’t change a beat even under torture") – starting from a sound setup stripped to the bone, he elaborates it quite a bit (abusing dblue glitch, kaoss pad, and similar things; remember his remix on the Human After All Remixes by Daft was anything but simple) that’s where his uniqueness lies; for the rest, it’s syncopated loops, cheesy kicks, rhythms with Roland banks, distorted synths, vocoders, nothing new. Surkin and ParaOne house?! It depends... take J-Hood by Surkin... it doesn’t stray far from the French house style of ‘98, take Kiss & Fly or Radio Fireworks and we get closer to the Justice style. The same goes for ParaOne... take Ski Lesson Blues and it’ll sound like one of those electro-prog tracks, like Oxia, Leger... take Sages-femmes and it already seems like a piece from Justice. It’s not advisable to express judgments if you probably only know a few tracks... otherwise, I only know Dance by Justice and say they make similar pop! But do you know what house is? Assuming you’re smart enough not to cite the new commercial pop hits from the likes of Guetta, Angello, Gaudino & co, excluding various subgenres, do Knuckles, Morales, Levan, or what I know, Joey Negro, LL Vega, Martin Solveig, Roger Sanchez, etc., mean anything to you? What the heck do they have to do with Sebastian, Surkin, and company? They can’t even be compared to the French house movement like Mehdi, Cassius, early Sinclair, etc. For heaven’s sake, it’s a good thing to finally propose new stuff on deb since lately they only play Elton John and duplicates of DTs, I really appreciated it, just as I really appreciate your range, going to check out Justice, then Napalm Death, but if we start denying the obvious just to say "I’m right"... that’s not the case.
