easy ghemison, has always framed himself as some kind of genius, a decent producer who now survives solely on his name; if we need to dig up some of his good products, we have to go back to spastik and company when, in some ways, what he was proposing was something new. now it's been years that he, like other producers of this kind, has been resting on the same sounds and clichés of the genre, therefore to me hawtin is worth little or nothing, even though I’m not a fan of the genre (and I admit I’m not even a connoisseur or deep lover of it) in my small way I know producers who are much more appealing. and then what composer? some of hatwin's productions are some of the most minimal (indeed) there are, as complex and journey-like as you want but let’s not abuse big words like composer!

I DON'T KNOW SINEAD and I'm not a fan of reggae, but the review is well written and you've piqued my curiosity, I'll give it a listen.
The cover is really beautiful, but it would be good to include some previews since the site allows it... which I hardly ever see in any reviews! (I always include them) ;)
For now, I'm listening to Prophet Has Arise on YouTube.

@ nosebleed: you might be right, but in this case the terms are fine; "chorus" is now effectively a universal word that, while not being Italian like others (such as "web," "dual band," "hi-fi"), has entered everyday language. So, I don’t see its use as superficial! I used ā€œprettyā€ to emphasize Nina's timbre; it seemed like the most suitable term rather than saying sweet or cute, etc. I don’t like English terms; as you can see, I keep my reviews simple without unnecessary theatrical digressions or superfluous synonyms, focusing more on the content of the album itself. I don’t think it’s worth arguing over two terms. :) As for the latest works, well, regardless of tastes, they remain inferior to GRAN TURISMO. I've always appreciated the band; their albums are certainly better than other stuff of the same genre that’s out there, but they still don’t reach the levels of Gran Turismo (a true gem!)
@ london: of course, the desire to renew oneself is a quality I always appreciate in any band and genre, but only if these changes yield positive results. In the case of The Cardigans, it’s been a negative point; in my opinion, they've lost style and personality. The latest works feel like déjà vu, an indie wannabe vibe that seems out of place. The refined sounds that have characterized the band since their beginnings are missing, as are the great electronic diversions that fit so well with Nina’s voice. Gran Turismo was instead a beautiful, very singular product and at times innovative. Even their earlier works, although not outstanding, had already highlighted their unique and appreciable style, which has diminished in the sequels. I can agree on the last work being certainly decent, but the successor to Gran Turismo, almost entirely acoustic, apart from "Communication," I found really lacking, considering the group’s standards! To summarize, The Cardigans started by consistently producing albums with great hit singles, songs that would buzz in your head for months, but they completed these works with totally anonymous filler songs. The same goes for the last two albums (especially since the earlier works are better), the exception being Gran Turismo, which is smooth and compact throughout its duration, without too many anonymous tracks; it is certainly the best. I believe the same sentiment was expressed in the old review of the album here. Those who have known the group since the beginning and who have followed their journey by listening to all the albums can agree, regardless of personal tastes. :)
@ panapp: my point isn’t about sales; it's true that "I Need Some Fine Wine and You," in particular, was an incredible song, and today it’s among my favorites by the band... but what about the rest? Tracks that are still around a 6, nothing more. As mentioned, "Super Extra Gravity" remains superior to the previous one (which I find the least successful), but already "Life" and the same "Gran Turismo" were significantly better albums. :)
