Carcass Swansong
Voto:
Great review. I absolutely love Carcass; in my opinion, they reached their peak of genius with the masterpiece "Necroticism. Descanting The Insalubrious," but "Swansong" is beautifully wicked (your term is more fitting: decadent). Truth be told, I've never understood the hostility towards this album either. One tip, Tepes: if you don’t have it already, grab "Barbed Wire Soul" by BLACK STAR (the band of Walker, Owen, and Regades) from somewhere; you’ll be even more "stranito"! Imagine adding jazz elements to the dark rock of "Swansong" in some songs, or a saxophone in another...

The album isn't bad, but you can feel the call of the record market too much and that "metal for everyone" that gets airtime on TV... but I don't want to be too nostalgic for the good old days; there are some good ideas and 3-4 solid songs, but to say that this album is more representative than "Kill 'em all", "Ride The Lightning," and "...And Justice for All" is absolute heresy.
And come on, you're young, and that's fine, but writing: "Another positive note, one thing that stands out immediately after a first listen of the album is the significant presence of the bass after its total absence in the previous album"... we're reaching peak comedy here...
