I read the book, and (after the first 50 somewhat nice pages) it became quite the "oh-well-I'll-finish-it-even-though -I-want-to-douse-it-in-blood-and-th row-it-in-the-vulture's-cage." I assume the movie that came from it isn't really that great either.
