Beautiful review. This is an album that was made because it "had to be done"; Freddie wanted his last recordings to be completed and published, so I don’t blame the decision to release this album, and I don’t consider it exploitation at all, unlike what happened later. Of course, the process of constructing the album was quite complex, because there were few new songs, so it was necessary to resort to scraps from previous albums or to tracks that had been used for the solo albums of the various members. The album is good, all in all, but a bit too focused on slow and mid-tempo songs; it lacks the usual balance of hard rock, pop, and melody that is the band's trademark. May's guitar solos are excellent, which in some cases literally save the songs, as in You don't Fool Me. The best track remains Let Me Live, halfway between Somebody To Love and Janis Joplin's Piece of My Heart; certainly nothing original, but still a great piece.

excellent review as usual Claudio. I know little to nothing about the Police, let's say they’ve never really grabbed me. Maybe I should give this live a try, it’s likely that seeing them live might convince me a bit more.

Nice review, I'm not familiar with the album, but given my passion for live music, I believe I'll get it soon. Plus, this is one of those bands with guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, raw and blooded rock-blues, in short, stuff that generally rocks and feels genuine. I like the idea of the cover.

great review, great album. One of the "cult" bands of the '70s.

Thank you Iside, I didn't know that. I thought that Freedom and Slow Train were completely unreleased. I looked a bit on English Wikipedia for the collection you mentioned; yes, you are right, it was released in '85 as a double vinyl, it's still available now, but it’s in double CD format, has a slightly different track list, and is called CD ANTHOLOGY.

great album, at the time, when it came out, I really liked it a lot. I still listen to it with pleasure. Ode to my Family, my favorite, a true gem. Great band, but did they disband?

A nice album, Easily is really a great track, but there are several excellent songs on this record, especially in the first part; in the second half of the album, there are a few fillers that are a bit too much. I didn't like the review; it's more of a personal judgment on the album than a review. And I don't understand why it should be considered a bad album just because it's less funk than the early RHCP. Is it less funky? Who cares! They did funk in the past, but that doesn't mean they have to keep doing it until retirement. Life can also be about change from time to time. And I don't see any disclaimer on the album saying "100% guaranteed funk album," or am I wrong? It's a rock album, a bit pop, with funky undertones and a lot of melody, and it should be judged as such, not as a "failed funk album."

It's not a great album, but all in all, there is much worse out there. Nice.

Well, Avenger, it really doesn't make sense, like many other things written by the trace. Great album and great review. Aerosmith may not have invented anything, but they are still a great band.
