Well... I mean... no, because... it's obviously a generational issue, but to me, SM seemed like fluff raised to the power of infinity compared to other earlier series that still belong to the same genre. Besides, you mention other series that, in my humble opinion (apart from Rayearth, which I don't know), outshine SM so much that they could double it before halfway through the competition... honestly, it seems to me that in Orange Road, the characterization of the characters has much more depth!

holy crap, for me it was playable two weeks a year when the rides came for the patron saint’s festival... basically nailed to the game truck memorizing the sequence of moves to perform... the savings of a year spent in the form of tokens at 400 lire each... after school, after mass, after dinner, for two weeks solid around wonder boy, mario, and F1 dream...

huge nostalgia! I had ISS on the Nintendo 64... such tenderness... but damn, Mario 64 was also absolutely amazing!

but what left and left geenoo... there’s no left in Italy! come on, here it’s one big melting pot, where left and right make purees and wink at each other to maintain the status quo... I considered myself right-wing for the first 25 years of my life, and when I thought about it a bit and decided to vote left, I realized that in reality there’s no left in Italy: what a fucking scam! by now, the issue is no longer between left and right, but between those who are inside and do everything to stay there (in politics) and those who are outside and claim their space: the triumph of gerontocracy and generational conflict in politics. Using a term that sounds very "showy" here on DeB, we could say that good old Bettino was "seminal" regarding contemporary political reality... the thing that worries me the most is that a political climate of laxity and disinterest is forming, which in other historical periods has led to the rise of dictators initially hailed as providential "strong men"... but then who gives a shit, I’m for enlightened monarchy!

"What was the other one called? Luigi, I think?" Are we joking here? Sometimes I wonder if it's me who is different or if it's you... well, of course, if you spent your childhood playing the violin or practicing ballet, I have no complaints, but not knowing that Mario's brother is named Luigi... I don't know, it feels strange to me...

The reviewer, in his onanistic flights of fancy, occasionally touches on some key points: it may well be (and it is) a story disguised as a video game, but gentlemen, no game before had given the same impression of being able to do whatever you wanted. The story was dressed up fucking well, perhaps better than it will be even in the subsequent ones... And I would say, there is indeed a story here, unlike in the never sufficiently maligned FF8. Leaning the weight of my 30 years on the counter of this bar, I can say that in the period following the game's release, the internet was buzzing with FFcommunity (legendary was FF7net.net) and rumors about the possibility of resurrecting Aerith or the hope for a sequel: such online excitement had never been seen before for a video game.

Well... made with the scraps of OM, but, for God's sake, what scraps! Much more easy listening than the masterpiece, it's still a great album, in meiner Meinung nach. I don’t think it has aged poorly; some DT albums seem older. Silent lucidity rulez! And what a voice that German guy has!

But of course, rebelde, your subjective argument makes total sense, not for nothing my first was 7 ;)
However, you’ll agree that it was with 7 that the series took a turn, that the story of 7 is more complex and engaging (as has already been said by others) and that the charismatic characters in 7 are more plentiful than in 8, even among the villains (those thugs are legendary!)... Just know that for me this saga is and will always be the best RPG, and thus I still consider 8 a good product... but try to put yourself in the shoes of someone who, after seeing 7, was expecting even more...
