I was hopeful to gather some interesting comments; I enjoy discussing serious topics and trying to understand our world. Sometimes I delude myself into thinking that on Debaser I might find people a bit above the average Italian-goat. Evidently, that's not the case; you keep wasting time discussing for hours and hours about Blur and Pink Floyd, and annoying the reader with this nonsense. Long live idle chatter, long live Italy.

Yes, yes, it's five; I accidentally wrote four on my phone. But let’s move on to some observations: Tropicalia (tropicalismo is a suffix created by journalists) doesn’t emerge as a reaction to the dictatorship; in the early years of it, there wasn’t a repression significant enough to justify a counterculture. Tropicalia is born as a movement to renew MPB, positioning itself as a reaction to the leftist conservative movement, which wanted pure Brazilian music, free from “gringo” influences. Another point I disagree with is the notion that the Mutantes signal the end of tropicalismo. They would have no right to declare that since they weren't the originators. Back then, they were just kids; Duprat met them in a television studio (there was a lot of music on TV in those years) and took them along to play on Gil's first album, so it’s inaccurate to say "With the collaboration of Rogerio Duprat"; it’s perhaps more accurate to say the opposite. At that time, no one was using solid wood guitars or electronic equipment (in fact, in Caetano's early shows, he was accompanied by an Argentine electric band). So the Mutantes fit in perfectly, but they were like satellites of Tropicalia, never the conceptual center. Some argue that the end of Tropicalia can be found in Caetano's album Araça Azul (1973), where he pushes experimentation to the max, as if searching for a point of no return.

What we can still blame the past for are the political ideals, which today no longer exist; there is no visible alternative to the dominant system. I disagree with the statement that "The answer, as it is logical, is purely subjective."

Their best, considering that several songs from their debut were not written by them. The review contains some inaccuracies; maybe I'll revisit it tomorrow.

While I have a deep respect for you and your knowledge on the subject, I can’t let go of that thing about jazz and Bruford. If Bruford never conformed to rock, it means that rock conformed to Bruford. In fact, his worst records are precisely the more jazz-oriented ones, starting with the one with Towner and Gomez. The ratings.

It would also be interesting to know whether such concerts were held as paid events or with open doors.
