It's a group I've wanted to get to know for a long time, your review tells me that the time has come. I don't want to say you're wrong because it's difficult to be objective, but I can't share the influences you feel in Don Caballero or Tool. Influences (especially Discipline) that I feel more with Battles. Maybe King Crimson has created a different school than many of their prog peers from that era, a more subtle school, less perceptible because it's harder to reproduce.
