Well, I've never suffered. Perhaps simply because they're too famous. Or maybe because they don't represent me at all. Or maybe because they've ruined Negativland, guilty of cultivating stylistic figures that are incompatible with Music with a capital M (theirs, obviously...). Or maybe because of the excessive use of sunglasses, hats, and caps. Or maybe simply because they're just toooo good and toooo rich.

Ah yes, those were the good times when indie pop was mixed with dance. An era still to be explored to give it the right dignity and historical significance. Giovanni, I commission you a retrospective on the great AR Kane, whose forgotten albums ("Sixty-nine" and "i" on Rough Trade + New Clear Child on L.Bop) still cry out for justice.

Maybe I only heard a small excerpt on Village Radio Rai. I thought it was the new Mercury Rev. My distraction or a turning point?

Geenoo, the comments section serves to express one's own opinion. If we all had the same, it would undermine its reason for existence. It would even eliminate the need for reviewing. Or for creating. I like your review, and honestly, I gave you a 4; fetish isn’t such a bad term if you consider that we are all fetishists where our visceral passions lie. Country or not, I respect Cash but don’t like him, just as I’m not engaged by other celebrated "Pieces of music history"; it might be my limitation and I’ll remain a voice out of tune, what can you say?

What if they've always been pulling our leg? What if the topological space T is nothing but our bourgeois level of perception that transforms the (R)idiculous into (S)erious and the (S)acred into (R)umenta? Are we faced with a manifesto of Art Brut (an unconscious, instinctive artistic outburst, a substitute for a different communicative possibility) or is Stapleton, able to intend and will, looking to (S)terminate us with cut-ups like in a Burroughs novel and (R)edem us from our ills like a knight of the apocalypse? But above all, who is poor Marie?

My experience with Ridillo is limited to a single CD gifted by Vinilmania during the international record fair in Novegro, held three times a year near Linate. I tried to trade it with some exhibitors, in vain. I fear it still inflates my collection. Thank you for the heads-up; I’ll try to dig it up and get rid of it as a permanent warning.

Geeno, without invoking Gelmini, 2 out of 5 is a failure. Like a four, in Cash's case unfortunately not even recoverable. As for the merit, the judgment is expressed clearly. Conditioned if you will by my aversion to country, but clear. I am convinced that others, not inclined to bow to fetishes, will agree... I await confirmations.

A precise term: overrated. That is, when the fascination with the man and his complicated past clouds the senses. Let's be honest: Cash was a good performer and little more; that traditional country is a pool of idiocies should be well known. With these premises, it's no surprise that the best of his work consists of transformations of others' originals and of other genres. The review is excellent nonetheless; a mention of the mentor Rubin wouldn’t have hurt. Because without his sponsorship, there would be no ongoing canonization......
