Tim Burton Morte malinconica del bambino ostrica (e altre storie)

Hello dear DeadHouse, I return your greeting on the "Sweeney Todd" de-page :) I'm coming back to your review after reading the aforementioned little poems. I haven't bought the book yet; I read them from a PDF scan (I hope to buy the book soon). However, I read them directly in language, then out of curiosity, I read the translation of the first one, "Stick Boy and Match Girl in Love": I have no words, a translation that completely demolishes the strangeness of these simple yet effective compositions. Either later or tomorrow I'll send you a private message. Cheers!

I receive little, I agree with what Desade said in the first lines. I wouldn't consider this film for bimbiminkia. Okay, it may not reach the heights of the great films of the past, but it’s a good movie. The settings are perfect, the actors really skilled (Depp always among the best). Unfortunately, it's true that there are many bimbeminkia who walk around with Nightmare gadgets without having truly experienced it (or maybe even without having seen it, who knows!), but this is a discussion that I believe doesn't have a direct connection with what you said.

Ah ah ah! Poor wife! :D Yes, actually it's "Ode To Io," but Jurix wrote it like that in the review and also in the data below; in 'related albums' the title is correct. So why is it incorrect in the title? Good job, Jurix!

@Hetzer, #9: I'm sorry, but you said something nonsensical: the inaugurating work of "gothic" in literature is - as Hellring said - "The Castle of Otranto," which is from 1764. Just think that the last novel of the strictly defined gothic period is "Melmoth the Wanderer" by Charles Maturin, which is from 1820! So I wouldn't say it's early... Anyway, this novel is also considered the progenitor of the science fiction genre. Blessed be that fruitful stay in Geneva!

Sure Dario, I’ll send it to you by email, okay? XD Anyway, just sit down with your headphones and stop (I only allow you to skip "Idle Blood" and "Inheritance" ;-) )... Luckily for me, it’s getting better. Otherwise, I’d be cursing in Sanskrit, Proto-Indo-European, and Old High German!

Oh dear, what a silly relationship I have with this album!!! Immediately (and not just then) I felt exactly like you did (and you know it). In the first few days, I really didn't feel like listening to it at all; it was as if it didn't exist, having disappointed me so much. Then I started listening to it more attentively, more often, more "unarmed" (in the sense of not intending to say once again, "Oh my God, what crap"). Lately, I must say it's getting better - thankfully - and I often find myself listening to it (especially on the train). I don't know. I can't seem to give a judgment. It engages me more, but I feel there's something "off." Of course, I completely agree on "Idle Blood" and "Inheritance" (which I constantly skip). Anyway, I recommend to anyone who is attached to Katatonia and has been disappointed by this album to listen to it again and again; I don’t know if it’s due to repeated listening or to some inherent hidden value, but in any case, things will improve. And see you next time......

Ah, always keeping in mind that a 3.5 for Katatonia is a 5 compared to the other sea of stuff out there, huh? :D

So... after digesting it a bit, I can give a more considered judgment. Starting from a 2 after the first 2-3 listens, I believe I’ve arrived at a 3/3.5 after numerous "listening sessions" aimed at absorbing this work. I would divide this album into 3 quality tiers: a high tier where I place "The Longest Year" (the one I currently like the most), "Departer," and - a half step below - "Forsaker." Then there’s the low tier, where I put "Inheritance" (the worst in my opinion) and "Idle Blood" (the latter not because it’s bad in itself but because it sounds REALLY TOO much like Opeth). In between, we find the middle tier, with all the other songs. I can't say if over time I might grow to like it even more, but for now I consider it a 3.5 album, with high peaks reaching 5 like "The Longest Year." However, I won’t round up excessively. A note of merit for the bonus track "Ashen" (in the deluxe version), a bit more aggressive and prog than the rest - partially in line with "Forsaker."
