How strange to discover this review only now... I was browsing through those of Kubrick and I find you as the pinnacle progenitor of cinematic satire... even in the parodic genre, the Genius reaches unparalleled heights; keep in mind that I've seen it at least 5-6 times in 2 years. I prefer it even over the other war feature (definitely not satirical) FMJ. The review could have been improved, though.

Guys, don't be skeptical, it's a great little party. It might seem religious, but it's actually packed with a pagan spirit you wouldn't imagine. A pretext for partying and drinking all night, with uncompromising folklore... from Saturday the 18th to Monday, in Pagani. If you don't have much to do and you're in the Naples/Salerno area, I recommend you come... you won't regret it!

Popular tradition tells that in the 16th century some hens, scratching around, unearthed a small wooden board depicting the Madonna del Carmine. It was the octave of Easter.
The discovery of the icon sparked curiosity and wonder among the locals, but soon this gave way to faith and devotion towards the Madonna del Carmine when, following the first miracle performed by the sacred image (the sudden healing of a cripple), seven more miracles followed in quick succession. The state of deterioration of the painting necessitated its reproduction on canvas, which was placed on the altar of the church dedicated to her, built in the spot where, according to tradition, the discovery by the hens occurred. The faith in the Madonna del Carmine, or rather, of the Hens (as it was soon renamed), throughout the centuries intertwined with the secular, giving rise to a festival.
The procession begins at nine on the Sunday of Albis when the statue of the Madonna delle Galline is carried on a cart pushed by the faithful. The exit of the Madonna is greeted with the release of doves. The streets through which the procession passes are filled with people paying homage to the Madonna, making offerings ranging from flowers to bread, from hens to money, while confetti is thrown from balconies and firecrackers and fireworks are shot off.
The final stop of the procession is the Basilica of S. Alfonso, where every year a centuries-old ritual is repeated: the Madonna receives from the hands of the superior of the Redemptorists a pair of hens, just as St. Alfonso, a devotee of the Madonna, used to do; the Madonna, grateful, reciprocates the gift with two doves. As the procession nears its end, but already from the early afternoon, the entire population gathers in courtyards and in the public gardens to dance and sing to the sound of castanets and tammorre. Everything is spontaneous, anyone can improvise as a dancer or performer of popular songs in the various "circles" created by those watching and clapping in time with the music. Sacred and secular meet again the following morning when the tammorrari, after having played and danced all night, lay down their tammorre at the feet of the statue of the Madonna, thus marking the end of the festival.

Essential, but well done... repeating the usual clichés about De André is a drag... the album? What’s the point in talking about it, De André is the 8th art...
