Tim Buckley Sefronia

I’ve listened to it very little, but I remember a few tracks that I still liked (maybe even the infamous duet… but here my memory might fail me). What I really like, though, is the personal review, almost a letter to good Tim.

The historical accuracy, it’s worth recalling, is a rather modern concern. Take the work of a historian more or less contemporary to the Gospels (let’s say, Tacitus’ "Germany") and you will find it full of inaccuracies, as, besides history, what mattered at the time was to provide a lesson or a moral (in Tacitus’ case, civilized Rome had long since declined morally, while the fierce barbarians had not forgotten what honor, strength, humanity, and social cohesion were). Moreover, the Gospels are not a historical book, but the teaching of Jesus Christ conveyed through his life and words, his truth about God for those who wish to believe, and here we delve into a matter of faith, not the methodology of researching and compiling a chronicle. Whether this truth is convenient, considering how many Christians have lost their lives yesterday as today (try to find out what is happening in India or China), is a concept open to discussion (that is: as long as one wants to have fun with irony, fine, but venturing into theological-historical discourse tends to lead to embarrassing situations, and this applies to me as well).

^"Parade", don't forget "Parade"!!! (Prince is one of the few artists I liked even when I was deeply into metal - so I still have something left even now that my hair is falling out).

Beautiful this one from Rush. My favorites still remain "Caress of Steel" and "Moving Pictures" (any album with Red Barchetta could be my favorite), but when last year they played "Entre Nous" live at the Forum di Assago, I felt like I was jolted!
Hideaki Anno Neon Genesis Evangelion (The end of evangelion)

A convoluted review just like the series (and the final movie), but it still conveys the idea of one of the most ambitious anime I've ever seen. Frankly, towards the end I found it a bit overly contrived, but the more psychological aspect (teenagers barely out of childhood called to shoulder the responsibilities of the whole world - somewhat like if Jesus had been sent to the cross at fifteen - and the conflicts that arise from it) really "caught" me.

Beautiful. Leslie West the patron saint of all oversized guitarists!
Guns N' Roses Appetite For Destruction

Aside from everything (I've never really been that interested in Guns), I get the feeling that during the Hair Metal era, people know more about the hair than the music. Back then, I preferred King Diamond and Mercyful Fate, but albums like "Pride" by White Lion, "Girls Girls Girls" by Motley Crue, "Wake When It's Over" by Faster Pussycat, or (at the edge of phenomenon) "1984" by Van Halen are really hard for me to see as trash. A little browse on YouTube, just to revisit the notes alongside the glitter, wouldn't hurt.

And if we included the Knack among their influences (yes, the ones of "My Sharona," Human really reminds me of them)?

Honestly, after the third book, the Dark Tower saga disappointed me a lot (especially the ending, but in general... and particularly the Dark spheres - I can’t even express how much I hated Susan Delgado in the end).

In addition to being a great "horror" novel, it is also one of the most engaging and insightful descriptions of a difficult age, like that around puberty. Often touching. Truly beautiful.
