Bob Fosse Cabaret

@MuffinMan: I don’t know if I’m an expert, but it’s a genre I really like and frequent a lot, that’s for sure. That’s why I tell you, for example, that in my opinion "Moulin Rouge!" is more of a film with music, like "Tutti dicono I Love You", rather than a musical in the more canonical sense of the term (like the very canonical "Chicago"). Anyway, it’s all a matter of labels and little tags and personal tastes; in the end, they’re all still musical films.

@italianpeople: um, yes, more or less, but I hold no resentment towards him.

I quote (!) because unfortunately I haven't heard the album either (I'll remedy that), but the review is very well written. As for Ringo, the whole world knows that being a singer is not his profession, but he is so empathetic that everything is forgiven: he could be at home with enough billions to live in outrageous luxury for the next 13 generations, yet he clearly loves making music and doesn't stop even in the face of commercial failures. Good job Ringo, we love you.

@MuffinMan: they'll never manage to agree on tastes! ;) "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" is from 1975, three years after "Cabaret" and ten years after my total cult "The Sound of Music".

@sexyajax: I didn't mean to say anything bad or inappropriate or presumptuous, you know. I just expressed my opinion, if that's still allowed.

@MuffinMan: I apologize for forgetting "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," which I didn't even realize came after "Cabaret," but as for "Dancer in the Dark" and "Tutti dicono I Love You," those are a different matter; Von Trier's is a musical, yes, but completely out of the box, and Allen's (beautiful) I don't know if I can quite call a musical. I don't like "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "All That Jazz - Lo spettacolo continua" at all, but I think "Chicago" is absolutely beautiful (even if you don't like it).

@nes: congratulations anyway because they really seem like quotes since they are so faithful to the character.

I don't know the book, but I read Cotroneo's editorials in "l'Unità" and I always agree with him 100%. That said, it doesn't mean that his talent as an opinionist is necessarily equal to that of a writer (I didn't even know he had written books). I will try to get hold of it to give it a read. Very, very nice review.
