Spielberg has cleverly rested on his laurels, aware of the stupidity of the masses who have granted him merits he doesn’t deserve. Leone is far superior; his films, when compared to the era, are extremely innovative. He has skillfully managed to break free from the "Western" molds imposed by the USA, doing so with extremely simple plots. I would define him the Battisti/Mogol of Italian cinema; the cinematography and pacing are Leone's strongest points, always of the highest quality.

Spilberg doesn’t mean anything to me, sure he deserves credit for Indy, but his films don’t offer anything, they leave nothing but a good watch. By far superior are Leone, Lynch, and Kubrick. And to think that Jurassic Park was extremely innovative when it came out, only to be followed by commercial and painful sequels.
