In fact, the title track derails the album towards new wave sounds, but the rest of the record takes different paths. I’m listening to it for the first time these days and it’s a nice surprise. I left them after the second album, barely paying attention to the third.

The triad Idles - Fontaines DC - Shame must be dissected, much like in any good theological commentary of the thirteenth century, to understand who descends from whom, who is the emission of whom. Making distinctions, in short, starting from the fact that the latest albums by Fontaines and Idles are a notch below their predecessors, while also acknowledging that Shame will suck until the end of time.
