Michel Petrucciani Oracle's Destiny
Voto:
Petrucciani...I remember him from way back on TV with Lucio Dalla on the clarinet. I hope this album is at least as good as the one with Lee Konitz. Nightwalker is really great, without any reservations.
Chick Corea Elektric Band Eye Of The Beholder

I haven't listened to the album yet, but I definitely will. Engaging review.
Jaco Pastorius Invitation

Very well-reviewed. The brass section is truly powerful, you're right. Definitely a great album.
Kathleen Battle & Wynton Marsalis Baroque Duet
Voto:
I don't have the album, but I already have some material on Wynton and his brother Bradford (you might be interested in "Romance for Saxophone"). He is undeniably very talented, although in live performances I get the impression that he leaves little room for the other members. Nice review.
Joe Henderson Page One
Voto:
Dolphy, the review is impeccable. At the moment, Blue Bossa is monopolizing my listening and also my practice with the instrument, as I am studying overlays specifically on this standard. If you haven't listened to Joe Pass's version (with guitar, glockenspiel, and double bass), do it because it's worth it.
Miles Davis Kind of Blue

I have read some reviews and comments, and I have enough material to write CONTEMPLATION.
Congratulations.
Pat Metheny One Quiet Night

Symbad, even though some time has passed since you wrote it, congratulations on the review. It's true that the choice to play alone with a guitar is quite daring. Joe Pass made this choice in the album "Virtuoso," which I consider a masterpiece. But you already know all this, so what am I telling you for... At the grand age of 23, I can't teach anyone, let alone you!
Anyway, I would like to highlight what I believe is the most beautiful passage of the record. In "Don't Know Why," at the moment of the key change, Pat lays down 4-5 chords of rare beauty; they add depth and create a sense of anticipation for the listener.
Anyone who plays and has some knowledge of music theory can understand how difficult it is to make the substitutions that this talent weaves throughout the album. He does it not in a pretentious way; everything is driven by taste, without going overboard. As you wrote above, the result of years of work and field experience. And, of course, a lot of class.

Here's why I'm on DeBaser and not on other sites. Great Charlie!

uxo is getting better and better. By the way, there's a live version of Watercolors in Blue Asphalt, if I'm not mistaken. Or not?
