The Breeders Last Splash
Voto:
In the days of "Last Splash," Kim Deal was an absolute knockout, but hey... let's not dwell on that offhand comment! The album has a strong melodic charge and knows how to scratch at just the right moments. What can I say... everything in this "Last Splash" always seems spot on, and always at the right time.
Want you... coocoo.. cannonballlll!
June Of '44 Four Great Points
Voto:
An album that deserves years of listening. I don’t like absolute definitions, but I feel compelled to say that this is a cornerstone of what we call "post-rock."
Shellac At Action Park
Voto:
A conglomeration of noise wisdom, now brutal, now perfectly ensnared. Seminal and intensely profound.
John Coltrane A Love Supreme - DELUXE Edition
Voto:
I have it... and I still have to thoroughly dissect ALL the alternate takes present in this succulent little box set. Although I greatly appreciate A Love Supreme, I refrain from giving ratings, for now.
Carcass Heartwork
Voto:
Certainly an interesting album, but in my opinion, it is somewhat penalized by the excessive "muddiness" of the guitars, which moreover tend to overshadow the bass and the vocals. A 4 is still well-deserved, especially for the skillful melodic choices that are well embedded in a substantial death context.
Acid Bath When The Kite String Pops
Voto:
Terrible... but in a good way. This challenging album with a minimal pH, When the Kite String Pops is truly a heavy stone to decode and analyze carefully. The only downside: the subject matter, both in terms of sounds and words and atmosphere... is decidedly overwhelming.
The God Machine One Last Laugh In A Place Of Dying
Voto:
The grooves of this record are infused with a sadness, a bitterness, and a twilight rage that cannot be overlooked. No wonder, given the events...
A bit inferior to Scenes from the Second Storey, but definitely worthwhile.
The God Machine Scenes From The Second Storey
Voto:
Imposing, speckled, moody, and vast disk.
Truly a masterpiece of the nineties, but ultimately a timeless album.
Dream Theater Awake
Voto:
Well played, carefully arranged, polished just right... but terribly slick and commercial. What a shame... the DT have surely done better.
Ministry "Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed & the Way to Suck Eggs"
Voto:
A sound mammoth of great imposing presence and undoubtedly slow digestion. An important record, a raw and stark snapshot of a certain misaligned America or perhaps simply bare, in the nineties.
