A Jazz Masterpiece!
The legendary LP, remastered by Rudy Van Gelder himself (the studio engineer from '65) using the original master tapes in the new and superior to any previous “deluxe” version, in a box set that includes on the second CD the “Trane” quartet in incredible live performances recorded at the Antibes Jazz Festival that same magical summer before the album's release.
What you just read are mostly facts I copied from the cover. I certainly wouldn’t dare to add or modify the judgments already expressed on this "indisputable masterpiece" of the eternal Coltrane, because if it is true that every music that paints nothing is mere noise, here we are in front of Botticelli's Venus!
Well, are you still there? Haven’t you already opened the browser on the page of your trusted distributor? What are you waiting for?
Know that “A Love Supreme” is in itself an indispensable album in the CD library of any person, even those most insensitive to jazz.
Know that this box set is truly of enviable craftsmanship and not the usual commercial move. I had the fortune to listen to this album previously and I guarantee you that the audio quality of this latest version is exceptional.
Know that the second disc contains 9 breathtaking alternative takes, of which 8 are unreleased!
And the absence of another version of the same album in your collection is not a “conditio sine qua non” for acquiring this latest crystal-clear transposition: having another copy of different make does not exclude the necessity of obtaining this variant, both for the audio quality of the original and the live versions, as well as for photos, information, and everything else present in the ample booklet included.
This is an album that "plays on in your head even after the music has stopped", paraphrasing the Marquis de Saint Lambert. But alas, everyone is made in their own way and unfortunately, I'm sure many will let it slip away… Well, it's not my fault, I warned you.
