Always excellent Velluto. Verdone I'll leave to you, it doesn't fall within the comedies I intend to review on this site ; )

Sorry Poletti, mine isn't trash; I think I've made that clear. This page isn't either.

@Poletti: I also agree with what you say. However, I would continue to focus on these little films, leaving it to others on the site to explore the masterpieces. I write for fun, and I like the idea that someone, sharing the leisure, reads these little crazies. Nothing more.

@muffin: "piana" by extension means flat, without wrinkles. In my opinion, Montagnani and Banfi were excellent actors at the time; they simply didn't have the appeal of other actors who received more recognition in their careers (take Tognazzi, who was very talented), and they happened to be in a historical period that wasn't very favorable for Italian comedy. Montagnani was a brilliant voice actor [for example, he dubbed Noiret's Perozzi in the first Amici Miei], so he knew how to give tone and color to his characters. You can say the worst about Banfi, but he comes from the variety shows of the '50s, and to me, he remains an excellent character actor: over the years he's been a bit annoying by emphasizing his Apulian roots (when no Apulian is like him; indeed, the mood of Puglia was captured better by Albanese with "Frengo e Stop"), but when he doesn’t have the aspirations of a leading actor, he is a true professional (just look at him in Fracchia la belva umana). He comes from a school and an era when actors could act, entertain, sing, and dance... I remember him on TV in the '80s — already partly accepted — and I assure you that many comedians who are popular today cannot be compared to him in any way. With this, I confirm the rating for the film above is 2/5, but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

@Poletti: I may sound trivial, but cinema is, in my opinion, first and foremost, a handcrafted product. Some artisans can be artists (just look at the Venetian glassmakers), others may limit themselves to making simpler and more functional products, while others can create the plates of the good memory for restaurants.
Over the years, cinema has also become an industry, but this is where things get quite complicated. No artist has ever considered themselves as such. Michelangelo got himself all dirty while working on the Sistine Chapel; after all, he was working with plaster and paints. It is the performers who invented art.

Finally, someone (Panthera) is paying the proper attention to one of the many aspects to ponder: who is better between Bouchet and Fenech??? The answer, in my opinion, is a worldview: butt or breast?, butter or margarine?, blonde or brunette?, Czech or French?, ironic or enticing?.... I always vote for the great Barbara, our very own Jane Fonda, since she dove into fitness in the '80s.

@super: For the audience, seeing them in these films has always been a pleasure. However, I believe that the two actors were not enthusiastic about these roles: Montagnani took them on just to pay for the care of a sick family member, while I think Banfi did them to bring home the bread. That the two became famous – at least among the older generations, because today Banfi is identified as Nonno Libero – with these roles does not make them significant in the history of cinema. If not in that of the "minor" kind.
