Ongoing discussions fueled by the clever Muito... Beautiful meaning of laRock's nickname (my favorite actress is named Laura - not Chiatti though: Antonelli - so much so that if I had a daughter I might even give her this name). laRock and I are indeed different people, but we're united by our passion for Beehive and also for rock.

Lavalin, it's right to start with things we like and to review things we're attached to, but it's equally obvious that closeness and affection for the subject can make us dissatisfied with what we write (it happened to me with “Cani arrabbiati”). But this should not be an obstacle to continue! A very interesting theme raised by your review is this: thirty years ago, the clash of cultures was characterized by the south vs. north of Italy... what can this film say about the current clash between extra-EU immigrants and all Italians? For example, my trusted barista is of Moroccan origin, but she left her overly traditional and overpowering family to come live in the city from which I write, study at university, and mind her own business (and she’s more Italian than I am, even in some clichés, not to mention the accent). In my opinion, integration between cultures goes through female emancipation.

I have a soft spot for these reviews.

I had been waiting for months for your debut! Great start, I believe we can never talk enough, even on this site, about the value of Monicelli and his ability to describe Italian society without compromises, and especially the “italietta” (thanks also to the work of his screenwriters). From this perspective, a Monicelli film, even with its slips in style or naivety, is worth much more than four or five films by Fellini (dreamlike and decadent, but ultimately self-referential) or PPP (intelligent and sharp, but just as self-referential, as well as inherently “conservative”). I greatly appreciate, and feel deeply, the socio-anthropological description you weave into the review: to not contradict our synchronicity, I must tell you that just last Sunday afternoon.... But that’s another story! ST, Il_Paolo

If Isidax=Isis, you have to explain to me why you didn't review this golden nugget.

Thanks LaRock (don’t apologize, you’re not LaJazz!!).... I take this opportunity to renew my GIFT. Do you remember the legendary FAUST'O and his song "Oh Oh Oh" (debtor to the Talking Heads)?!? Well... in the mid '80s someone made a cover: a cover that I’m attaching and dedicating to you, with all my heart. When art rock doesn't take itself seriously!!!!

Gustavo, since your name is in the imperfect (not Gustante), we didn't invite you. But we can make it up next time.

Contemplate.... why do you take it out on me and not on Rivoli?!?!??

Applause to the Maestro. To console you, if Chiara comes back today maybe you’ll find her less beautiful. Let the memories rest in peace, as Joyce said in "The Dead." Obviously it's a 5 because I can't give you a 10.

I would like to close the debate with a GIFT for all the readers of this page, and of course for the commentators who took part in the debate (which I didn’t even want to create). Do you remember the legendary FAUST'O and his song "Oh Oh Oh" (debtor to Talking Heads)?!? Well... in the mid '80s, someone made a cover of it: a cover that I am attaching and dedicating with all my heart. When art rock doesn’t take itself too seriously!!!!
