I still play basketball, and honestly, I can't tell you who is the absolute best (which is always relative). Of MJ, I appreciate many things, and since basketball is a sport where air time matters, his athleticism really stands out. A fantastic defender and an immense attacker, but also an egocentric man who loved the show. I hate to see among his most famous and acclaimed shots that almost dunk with his right that then turned into a left-handed layup, completely pointless, like a soccer player dribbling the goalkeeper and then, from 5 cm away from the goal, lifting the ball and putting it in with his butt. Bird, on the other hand, was a tremendous son of a bitch (speaking sportively). Unlike MJ, who compensated with athleticism where he fell short mentally, Bird was pure intellect, a player who thought 20 times faster than anyone else on the court. So alas, since afternoon games are so much in vogue, I vote for a 50/50 compromise.
