Mercyful Fate Don't Break the Oath

The masterpiece of Mercyful Fate, in my opinion!! "Melissa" paved the way for new sounds, this one perfects them! However, I would rather speak of proto-power dark, but we know, it’s just a sterile classification; in the end, this is fucking Heavy Metal, and that’s it!!

this is not yet the power-dark that the following "Don't Break The Oath" will unleash.. here the influence of Hard Rock and Judas Priest is still very heavy, still a masterpiece, but I still prefer "Don't Break...".

Great analysis!! ..I didn’t know they had continued after the two parts of the "Metal Opera"..

(Anyway, in my opinion, you shouldn't have said that THING in the end. I hope you are aware that for that, you will probably be "lynched" in the upcoming comments!! Actually, you might lower my rating too!!)

listened to once.. what struck me was indeed "Sign Of The Cross", but it doesn't seem to hold up against past monsters like "Killers".. anyway, there's no arguing about taste..! and always UP THE IRONS!!
Manowar The Triumph Of Steel

I respect your opinion, but I completely disagree: in my view, "Triumph Of Steel" is actually their last true masterpiece, thanks also to the technically monstrous Rhino on drums (not to take anything away from the great Scott Columbus!). Here, the album truly lives up to the promise of its title; the band innovates its sound by hardening it and experimenting in new directions. "Metal Warriors" is a spine-chilling arena anthem, and the only weak point, in my opinion, is the tired final ballad, light years away from "Heart Of Steel"! Especially when placed at the end of such a brutally violent album like this! Then again, of course, de gustibus, as usual..!

Well.. from "Fighting The World" I only save "Defender" and "Black Wind, Fire And Steel", the others don't really impress me. While I have all the respect (though I still prefer the first 4 albums) for "Kings Of Metal", it has some pretty forgettable tracks like "Kingdom Come".. I feel it's a sharp turn after "Fighting The World", but I would still say it's "dirty" with that sound that, after having loved an album like "Sign Of The Hammer", I don't really associate with Manowar... Sure, then "Kings Of Metal" has some excellent highlights, like "Hail And Kill", "Sting Of The Bumblebee", but to be honest, I prefer (besides the aforementioned first 4 albums) the uncompromising violence of "The Triumph Of Steel", with Manowar truly innovating their sound and, thanks also to Rhino's monstrous technique on drums (no offense to the legendary Scott Columbus!!), creating a masterpiece like "Achilles.." or a powerhouse of speed and intensity like "Ride The Dragon", the experimentation with Indian tribal rhythms in "Spirit Horse Of The Cherokee", a formidable arena anthem like "Metal Warriors", and an epic gem with "The Power Of Thy Sword", even though it has nothing to do with the dark, heavy epicness of their origins; the only downside is the ending with "Master Of The Wind" which, after such a deployment of pure power, can only leave one dumbfounded..!
