A very raw and intense film that perhaps takes a bit too much pleasure in showing squalor and degradation at all costs. The review is a bit confusing in some parts, but overall it's fine.

Well, to be completely honest, I don't think his performance "makes a difference" in the pieces he plays. He's good, you know...

Hooray! A big group that finally finds its place on debaser! I don't have the live recording in question but I do have the other ones mentioned. As for influences on the rock side, I'd say the reference to progressive is spot on, while on the strictly jazz side I would see more of the "electric" Davis from the early seventies.
