Excellent report! Jazz from Eastern Europe deserves more attention. Once, I don't know if they still do it, there was a non-stop television event in mid-July called "La Notte Del Jazz Europeo," where, in addition to the usual Garbarek, Toots Thielemans, Wolfgang Muthspiel, and the like, there were performances, broadcast from various European cities (Vienna of course, but also Warsaw, Tallinn, Minsk, etc.) by small, often quite interesting, unknown groups...

It's very hard to form a calm opinion about the character in question, who embodies the stereotype of the "absent-minded but sweet genius." The media have been racing to plaster his face on the front pages, and it's not unlikely that he "plays along" a bit. Still, in my opinion, the adjective that best describes Allevi is "pop," with all the good and the bad that this term entails...
