I hope you won’t misinterpret my words, but if you want to remain on Debaser, you need to have a lot more guts than what you’ve shown with your last comment. When you review an album, even one that you really like and is very important to you, you have to consider that there might be someone who responds with "I think it's crap." It’s not pleasant, but it’s part of the game; you have to accept it—it’s happened to everyone (starting with me). We could discuss for hours about the supposed poor taste of Contemplazione's joke, but while it's true that he doesn’t know you, it's equally true that you don’t know him, and one joke seems a bit insufficient to get an idea of a person.
Regarding genres: I believe we all agree on the annoyance of seeing the music we love trapped in a "genre." Personally, when someone asks me what kind of music I listen to, if my interlocutor knows nothing about it, I respond with "jazz," and even as I say it, it sounds false to me. I would much prefer to list my favorite musicians... But how can one do that? Genres help those who DO not know the music being talked about to have a rough and crude notion of it, but still, some kind of notion. They serve as a common denominator among those who speak musically different languages, which we can discard as soon as we discover we speak the same language. And please, let’s stop with these appeals to true music lovers… As if we were divided here between lovers of music and those who hate it… Clear enough? I hope so.
