But once this stuff wasn't called jazz-rock? Anyway, it's awesome. Praise be to whoever posts alerts of this caliber on Debaser. I've also heard Brand X and Return To Forever in it.
John Scofield Time On My Hands
Voto:
As of today, there are five reviews of John Scofield now available on Debaser: four under his name and then "I Can See Your House From Here" in collaboration with Pat Metheny. Take a look at the mentions that come up in the comments: "Hand Jive," "Groove Elation," "Meant To Be," "Grace Under Pressure," and then "That's What I Say," where our artist plays the songs of Ray Charles. I would say we can also add the essential "Bass Desires" by Marc Johnson featuring the duo Scofield-Frisell. Personally, I've reviewed two fusion albums (Vince Mendoza and Jimmy Haslip) where Scofield plays (and oh, how he plays!). I’d say that’s enough for now, right? ;-)

...In short, these griots had to come out sooner or later! ;-) Great tip. Just so you know, "la roba" arrives tonight!

Not bad... You also found them in download. When you mess up the router, then you can't complain that the P2P programs aren't working well! ;-)

Interesting, but I couldn't find anything online. Any samples?

Good job, always interesting reviews, even though our musical tastes are quite different (and that's why I rarely comment).
John Scofield En Route
Voto:
Yes, I was a bit hesitant between giving four or five, let's say I give four because I prefer Scofield on stage with some other soloist (Lovano, Frisell), personal taste... I only know Lovano's album by name, I'll get it, listen to it, and then I'll let you know... I was thinking of something by Ralph Towner... But we have time to talk about it again.
The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Voto:
I just don’t understand reviews like this. First you say that "the Beatles need to be downscaled" and then you add: "they profoundly influenced fashion, art, and culture of the time" and that they had a "role as forerunners, as prophets, as a well to draw from abundantly." Talk about downscaling! The album is full of trivial songs, yet it provides "a solid foundation and an essential reference point for much of recent music." Come on, have a little courage! Do you hate the Beatles? Write "I hate the Beatles," don’t say "I hate the Beatles, even though they are essential geniuses." Nothing personal, but if you can't argue for "counter-current" opinions credibly, it’s better to just let it go.
