I want to add that I adore the painting of Lucian Freud. (Related to the more famous Sigmund)

Good review. Like with Andy Warhol, I never understood if Basquiat was a great artist or just a con. This applies to all the artists of the last 50 years. (Those I know)
David Bowie The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spider From Mars

Excellent album by an artist who hasn't always convinced me.

I didn't know that the beautiful "Chuck E.'s in love" by Rickie Lee Jones was inspired by Chuck E. Weiss. I just finished downloading the album 5 minutes ago; Waits' influence is evident. (or vice versa) I must say, I prefer Weiss's voice, as I always found Waits's voice a bit forced in his early albums. The analysis is spot on, and the artist's talking blues is pleasant. Levon Helm's album is good too; I would say they are both 4-star records. I would love it if you wrote a list of your top 10 albums.

Contemplation, I have already copied your comment onto a Word document. You also mention that the big absentees are quite different... I imagine a couple of Miles Davis, etc. If you want to write someone down, I'll come back to check tomorrow. Supersoul, I take everyone's advice into account, you are an expert in rock... let's say passionate, I love that music.

I downloaded the SICKOAKES; I hear a bit of Pat Metheny in them, kind of an evolution of what was once called jazz-rock. They’re not bad, but thinking of that type of music, I can’t help but think of the unmatched Joe Zawinul, who created timeless compositions since his days collaborating with Cannonball Adderley. His Mercy Mercy is beautiful, on par with his works in Weather Report. The Six Organs Of Admittance are really good; I had read something about them somewhere, but I didn't know them. Now I'm moving on to TERRY CALLIER, whom I've never heard of. Anyway, if you still have suggestions, as you can see, I don't let them fall on deaf ears. For example, maybe you can tell me what is the best album by Oregon. I also like Jazz; I’ll mention Sidney Bechet, of whom I have a collection, but it's on cassette. I know the big orchestras, Bix Beiderbecke, Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young, but I adore Charlie Parker and Thelonious Monk. But I only know them superficially. Perhaps you can point me to some essential CDs from their discography, but also from jazz in general. I've read about Art Blakey, but I don't know him.

Thank you. I'm immediately looking for SICKOAKES. DeBaser serves this purpose as well, doesn’t it? I'm reaching out to you and Supersoul because you are undoubtedly knowledgeable. I also have a book I draw from: the 500 essential records, with reviews by Eddy Cilìa and Federico Guglielmi. I know the latter and I trust him because I know what music he likes, and I've never been misled by him. However, the other one writes about records that I sometimes don't like. For example, The Verve were a disappointment; they definitely don’t belong among the 500 essential rock records. Considering the book is branded: Il Mucchio, I would have preferred if Max Stefani had personally taken on the task.

Odradek, I totally respect your tastes; maybe it's me who sometimes steps outside the lines. But I'm not a provocateur; actually, if you would be kind enough to recommend an album for me to buy, among the many you've reviewed, I would consider it. (The same goes for Supersoul.)
