Stunning review, really... I keep rereading it over and over, well done Hell! Pale Folklore is a 5-star album for me, it's beautiful from every perspective, and the instrumental break "The Misshapen Steed" is just magnificent.

I agree with foreveryoung's comment because in this album the atmosphere can be described, more than epic and engaging, as very intimate and melancholic. As for the review, I find it good, although in my opinion you didn't dwell enough on the best tracks of the CD, such as Varpuspaiva, Vahainen Violetissa, and Salain, which I consider small masterpieces... :) The album, overall, is very beautiful, especially listening to it during this winter period :)

Good review even though I can't stand that you called this album "apocalyptic folk"...this is pure and simple neofolk, with a bit of ambient, nothing more...Anyway, I quite liked the album.

So... First of all, I already mentioned in the review that this album is rich in influences, and perhaps its only flaw is a slight lack of originality... however, it’s worth noting that there are post-rock, folk, and ambient parts (that draw from the latest works of some bands in recent years) that are missing in the early albums of Katatonia you’re referring to... I've decided to give it a high rating because it’s an album that struck me in particular, and it’s still subjective...

No, Negura Bunget are much more black while these are more oriented towards doom... ;)

Your review is very nice and the album is simply spectacular. The acoustic guitar adds a lot of natural and environmental atmosphere, and this is very noticeable in beautiful pieces like "Odal" and "The Lodge," which along with "In the shadow of your pale companion" are the three best tracks on the LP.
