Agalloch Marrow Of The Spirit
Voto:
Oh, I was eagerly anticipating a review of the latest Agalloch. This album has nothing to envy from its predecessors. At first, it disappointed my expectations a bit; I was hoping for a further evolution of their sound towards a more "post-rock" or "ambient" direction, while what I heard seemed like a regression, a return to their blacker origins, but with more aggression and an even sparser production than before. Then, after several listens, I reevaluated it and found it to be a splendid work, perhaps their best, their stylistic summation, as Progrock also states.

Ah, I almost forgot that abominable piece of crap called "Death Cult Armageddon."

No, we are not there. To me, Dimmu are unbearable and ridiculous since the reissue of Stormblast.

Seen live at Gods Of Metal 2008. It's a shame they only played 3 songs. Great album, by a great Italian band.

A brief review, but overall with its few sentences I liked it. An album to listen to and re-listen to.

Beautiful album. I fully agree that it’s an album that sends shivers down your spine not only due to a sense of cold but also because of a distressing feeling that it conveys from beginning to end. At certain points, it feels like listening to the ambient-folk of Nest, combined with industrial experimentalism. Brilliant.
