It's really the case to say it, these guys have carved out a nice piece of... cheese all for themselves, but even in Emmenthal, cheese doesn't always have holes...

Hey Lux, I get that you enjoy calling out the supporters of clichés... But in the LIGHT of that, could you tell me why you gave a 3 to the masterpiece of CURA, while not long ago you slapped a nice 5 on your favorite MEDICINA?! ; )

What a travesty... This is a perfect album: from the squared rhythmic/synthetic metronomy of "One Hundred Years" to the metallic, distorted vocal throb of "Pornography"... Over-arranged where?! Bass lines serving as the backbone that revolve around 3 notes, only one guitar overdub per track as a maximalist ornament, and synths that can only be considered overexposed in "Cold" (but with good reason)... unless you consider "Pink Moon" the epitome of instrumental rambling... "Pornography" is a manifesto of (mono)expressive minimalism!

Uuhmmm, I haven't had the "privilege" of witnessing a Kyuss live show, but, reading and listening to various testimonies... I hope that the analogy between the pairs "devil/holy water" and "Wyndorf/Garcia" is based on purely aesthetic considerations... the "good John" seems to have stepped on stage at least "inebriated" with good intentions, he and Josh openly invited each other to pay a (gynecological) visit to their respective mothers at every other concert... and, always the singer, never missed an opportunity to step down from his pedestal for some direct "cultural exchanges" with the more erudite and composed audience members.

Um... in 1996, a "Fintroduction" disc was also released by a sound manipulator named "Umbratile"... a bit of a trifle that doesn't deserve to be considered "Epochal," anyway... ; ). Among their works, I prefer "Four Great Points," but staying within the annual context, 1998 is marked by "What Burns Never Returns"... now this is the quintessence of Math Rock!

Well... they're nice, but they make me meteoropathic... if I'm in a good mood, I enjoy them happily... but if I think about it too much, they remind me of a sort of Europoid version of the Decemberists... and, guess what, that American group gives me fits of the runs and jaundice... fortunately, one of the seven in question is Russian (and the rating is a 3.5)!!!

I'm not sure that the proposal is among the ones that suit me best, but... it's strange that the review went unnoticed... Congratulations, it's really well written!

Accurate and timely reviews, but... I too, in terms of taste, stand with Green... here the jazzy component that you rightly define as "structural" takes a bit too much of a leading role, shamefully sacrificing that dreamy "synth"etic/electronic touch and exquisitely "Kraut" drift that made "Millions" so successful...

Philosophy can also be appreciated... it’s the reviewed album that I find positively despicable.

@ Madcat: I might come across as out of place, as I find them pleasant but nothing more... however, I believe that for most (and for me too) their best album, or at least the freshest and most inspired, is "In It For The Money," the second work (from 1997, if I remember correctly).
