"unlike the concerts where he shows off a great stage monster capable of keeping the audience in the palm of his hand until the end of the performance...": 'which, ugly is ugly, there's no doubt about it, but has he also become King Kong?! : )

"Mr. Red" has always been a "too glorious bastard"!

I can't understand how so much criticism tends to see "Radio-Aktivität" as a step back from "Autobahn," which, yes, introduces that type of song form later developed with "Trans Europa Express" and "Die Mensch-Maschine," cornerstones for the birth of "synth pop." However, the former is a true "Techno" album "ante litteram" (words of Juan Atkins), and excuse me if that's not enough :)

I can only listen to the first self-titled album. Not that they ever changed their songwriting style too much; maybe they learned to refine the melodies (which are always present), but over time they have really "softened" up; the debut at least still had a semblance of guitar roughness (in the more intense parts, the blend between "heaviness" and "noise" was quite appreciable), and the first drummer was much more "boisterous" and loved the "fratte" rhythms, in short, they were "almost mean" (but mainly "almost" :)

He (Pino Scotto), in the Eighties, unloaded a gazillion trucks of fish on his own to replenish the fish population of the Tyrrhenian Sea, devastated by the unwelcome passing of "The Toxic Avenger." Having released all the crustaceans on site, an entire neighborhood in Naples was renamed in everlasting memory of the titanic (and "tritonic") feat: Scampia!

Well, come on, it might be a default 3, but at least they didn't give it a "0" (that's reserved for "ragion veduta" during the pre-bald Billy Corgan period ;). OK, it's part of the hagiography of rock history, but it's also the only one from Nirvana that I really can hardly listen to without skipping several tracks (with "Breed" and "Territorial Pissing" being the only ones from the worn grooves); paradoxically, the release that I consider truly perfect all around isn't even an "official" album ("Incesticide").

It really seems that most reactions to this album are critically adverse. What doesn’t add up for me are the underlying motivations. I won't express my opinion about the quality of the record, as I haven't fully absorbed it yet, but from my initial listens, despite its length, the very diversification of the musical content hasn’t made it feel burdensome. There’s a suspicion that this is just the classic and ever-repeating attitude of "snobby" alternates: something is beautiful and precious only as long as it’s known and appreciated by the fewest possible! For instance, “Dell'Impero delle Tenebre” is certainly not much inferior in terms of length, and while it’s of high pedigree, the musical references don’t strike me as particularly shocking; language change and the related "versifying," Capovilla and the current associates had already been doing that for a good decade; instead, compared to the subsequent works, in the debut for the first 40 minutes there is a noticeable immobility in the "monodimensional" rock registers; ) (from "Vita Mia" to "Carrarmatorock!" the tracks could be shuffled and switched "ad libitum," and probably very few would notice a significant change in mood).

I instead believe that from "Little Lucid Moments" they have found their way back (W the Prog "Quarantagenario"), which they lost for almost a decade starting from "Let Them Eat Cake", when, yes, they managed to predict the new trends in "alternative" rock, but, in terms of actual production, they came out time and again with broken bones regarding the results compared to various epigones, albeit "unblemished" and smelling of milk... :)

Come on, has anyone ever heard of Robert Joseph Flaherty???!! I thought he was more famous than the Aran Islands themselves :)

They are more "dancey" in their beats and approach to singing (less song structure, more repeated vocalizations or guest appearances between "rap" and "soul" flourishes) and have a decidedly broader range of "ballroom" beats compared to Hot Chip (but they mostly stay within the realm of "house"), TBob! Said veeeery easily, eh ; )
