No, I mean, nothing prevents you from using any harmonic progression in any genre, the same goes for the melodic line; otherwise, we’d also be saying "rock melody"... and this is why there cannot exist a rock harmony, or jazz, or whatever you want to call it! I understand the simplification, but it refers to the absolute stereotype that can be in jazz with the chord progression of "I Got Rhythm" and in rock... I don’t know? the usual two-three chords like Ac/Dc, for example...
