One of the lesser-known but personally most appreciated albums by Shorter!! In a way, it's his "A Love Supreme"...

Good review, well done! Look Doc, the album in question isn't bad, but the two guitarists have made much better albums on their own, in my opinion. It would be a three and a half... I'm giving it a three because there were several "easy" fives given!

Consider at the end of each piece an average of two to three minutes of applause! The excuse I would make if I were a PR for ECM is that they wanted to present the auditory experience "just like" at the actual concert, everything live and without cuts or rearrangements of pieces. That is: if you were there that evening, and people applauded for five minutes after a particular piece, you felt all those five minutes... exciting, right? NO! Regarding the same high prices for older ECM releases, the argument doesn’t hold water, and let’s add the downside of a shorter duration, in some cases even 34-35 minutes!! More than 1 euro every two minutes. And then damn it, at least they could price their bestsellers at 10-12 euros if not 8-10 (like other less "fashionable" labels)! Staying with Jarrett, there’s no way they’re putting the Koln Concert on sale, those bastards know it’s a long-seller and that people will keep buying it for decades to come, even at full price.

Great film, with an exceptional Klaus Kinski! The murder scene is something terrible; you can't tell who is suffering more; it almost seems like he is actually killing himself...

I pay 15.75 for the ECMs at my trusted store, because they always give me a 10% discount (the list price is 17.50). Otherwise, I can also find them on suonieritmi.com for about 16.30 if I'm not mistaken...

They could have just removed it (or significantly shortened it and taken out the least successful piece) to fit everything on a single CD... but that way they would have made half the money! Stockhausen gives me a kick; in the morning, if the day is just right, sitting on the throne, I produce some avant-garde experimental farts that are truly UNHEARD OF! And the way I modulate them...just adjust the potentiometer, and the sound shifts from a menacing hiss to a deep, resonant tuba note. You should hear them...they're definitely worthy of a review!
