I wrote with my feet, sorry! If I had added another "and then," I could have set the absolute record for nagging.

But it had been clear for a while, with that nickname!! ;-) And then six out of nine reviews are from saxophonists... and by the way, didn’t you also mention once that you played the sax? It didn’t seem like a secret, but maybe I’m misremembering... maybe in a private message? Who knows! P.S.: my dad bought a clarinet the other day, but he can’t produce any sound even when blowing with all his might... he’s pretty mortified about it all ;-)))

Paolo writes: "Does someone want to know something about this movie? Here it is served, without saying it's a masterpiece and without glorifying the trash. This, in essence, is the predominant part of my 'mission'." I would like to ask you: who the hell is this phantom Tizio? For me, this Tizio simply does not exist, and if he does, he has problems! But who, endowed with a brain and good taste, wants to know anything about these messes? Who asked you to talk about it? Are you so keen on spreading this anti-culture that you’ve made it a 'mission'? Can’t you keep it to yourself? By the way, don’t you realize that unfortunately many people are familiar with any film by the Vanzina brothers (if only because of frequent television broadcasts), and therefore there’s very little to know that isn’t already known? If we don't at least use these spaces (almost the only ones left available for those who want to THINK) to create culture and give visibility to true Films and real Music, then we are in trouble! Your 'mission' seems to me to be an ode to mediocrity (or an unjustified, complacent tolerance towards it). It really seems that deep down (not even that deep) you truly appreciate these failures, EMPTY and POOR in every aspect. Look, I don’t want to be polemical or attack you, but I just want to UNDERSTAND the WHY!

The basic rhythm is a kind of "à-ta-tà tùn-tu-tù, à-ta-tà tùn-tu-tù," which would be easy if it weren't for the fact that you have to perfectly intertwine the kick drum and hi-hat with your left hand and right hand...the "à" is the kick drum hit, the "ta-tà" are two hits with the left hand, the second one in unison with the hi-hat, and the "tùn-tu-tù" are three hits with the right hand on the snare, the third one in unison with the second hi-hat hit. It's a bit tricky...listen to St. Thomas again and pay attention to this rhythm and Sonny's "strange" attack!

Paolo, you are smart, but you only propose rubbish! Why don't you direct your attention towards worthy things, for heaven's sake... what do we care about the Vanzina???

P.S.: we are doing "St. Thomas" with the improvisation lab group... I thought the drum part was a joke... but no way!! If you don't have absolute precision, the calypso groove goes to hell, while with swing you can mess up a little and it doesn't matter! Then there’s this tenor sax guy who always messes up the entrance, screwing up the whole theme presentation and making me mess up too... it’s going to be tough but the count doesn’t give up ;-)

Excellent proposal indeed, congratulations! I've been devouring Britten's requiem for a few days now, which is another masterpiece, but I don't know this one. Allow me a small piece of advice: never, I mean NEVER allow anonymous comments!! ;-)))

Beautiful review, heartfelt and passionate! I have nearly everything by Sonny, but this one, despite attracting me a lot, I’ve never picked up because it’s been panned almost everywhere...but since I trust you more than that puritan Polillo and others, I’ll download it, give it a listen, and if I like it, I’ll buy it!! I saw him live twice, in 2005 and last summer, and I can only declare my eternal, moved devotion to this Great Old Man, sweet and powerful like a demigod.

Great! Nice the way those oversized ears stick out, you remind me of Luttazzi when he used to do the "news in a reduced format to accommodate YOUR mental capacities" ;-)))
