A Dolphy!! But were you even there??? But damn... did you recognize me and not say hello? Bastard!! Were you by any chance wearing a Siena Jazz t-shirt and talking to a gray-haired gentleman in the front row before the start?

No. She paid tribute to Joni Mitchell, riding the wave of success from her latest album, with which she also won a Grammy. That album is so-so, with an annoying cover. There's also Christina Aguilera if I'm not mistaken ;-)))

It's true, Bjorky is gone... A Night In Tunisia done by the Manhattan with Bobby McFerrin is scary, but it's not on this album! I can't remember which one. Hi Meli!

Wow, Umbria Jazz was fantastic! The only completely disappointing concert was that show-off James Carter with his bunch of show-offs. The drummer was too loud for no reason. All of them were too loud for no reason. But: the Charlie Haden Quartet, Bobby Hutcherson, Bill Frisell, and that GENIUS Brad Mehldau with his spectacular trio (for me, the high point of the festival) truly left me fulfilled, gratified, and at times ecstatic. The search for sound, for the right notes, a tension that sliced through the air, a creatively exhilarating concentration. Herbie Hancock was somewhat disappointing, as he left too much room for the "show," allowing excessive displays of strength from Vinnie Colaiuta and others. However, Dave Holland carved out a personal space for himself with a show-off solo that was musically beautiful. The same goes for the Senegalese guitarist, with his Africa-Voodoo piece and his monstrous vocal effects, which could keep you up at night—seemed like the boogeyman (it's really the right phrase!). Hats off to Pat Metheny when he brings out tasteful pieces with Gary Burton, Steve Swallow, and Antonio Sanchez. Pieranunzi with his tribute to Chet Baker didn’t give his best; even the trumpeter wasn’t that great, nice sound but anonymous! I missed the Gil Evans Orchestra, alas...

Paul Hindemith Piano Works, Volume 4: Ludus Tonalis

Great suggestion! Hindemith is a gap in my knowledge; I've read various things about him but I still need to listen to him. Paloz, you probably know Brad Mehldau's "Live in Tokyo" and the various solo concerts by Jarrett if you love solo piano! Not to mention Paul Bley's "Mondsee Variations" and "Open, to Love"...
Rachelle Ferrell Individuality (can I be me?)
Voto:
Just returned from Umbria Jazz, which is why I'm late... I know the album well, it's played and recorded excellently, and Ferrell's voice is undeniable. However, I don't agree with you on the quality of the compositions; not all of them are "special." Let's just say that a four works for my tastes!

And to think that "I love you"... do you see what I meant when I was talking about the ignorance and rudeness of many teenagers? Shoveling crap for free is typical. Congratulations and enjoy your cucumber, kid, as usual!

"Extrapolation" is a masterpiece! "November" almost. Some reviews on Umbria Jazz will come in, Jake! On June 20th we performed with my band, and now we have a concert on July 15th. Exams galore. Living together. Stress. Hello to friends!
