Antonello Salis Live @ Roccella Jazz Festival, Roccella Jonica (Rc) 17/08/2008

Congratulations to SuperTele for the passionate review. One of the greatest Italian jazz albums: Duo Satta-Salis "Live @ Radiotre"! For those unfamiliar with Sandro Satta, just know that he is among the greatest saxophonists in the world, not just Italy. Imagine the energy of Salis combined with the presence of an even more brilliant musician...an eruption, a raging river that album! And I had the fortune to see them play for 10 euros at my music school, where Satta teaches full-time. Salis played an entire set of pots for the occasion, and he was sweating...how much he was sweating! I was in the third row...;-)

Of course.

Among the works of Igor that are a must-know, alongside "The Rite of Spring," "The Firebird," "Pétrouchka." I'd rate it 4-4.5 compared to the first two. I would have liked the review, but it loses its impact with the forced uninhibited language of an excited teenager who says things right in your face.

Parker BECAME the beacon. But without Monk answering his musical questions, would he have been just as dazzling? I say: WHO KNOWS?! Maybe not. Maybe so. It is what it is, if you think so.

Dear Paolo, if I had a weekly allowance, I could only go to the department stores to spend it on (useless) things and meet people like you (cultured and useless), or even worse than you (ignorant and useless). Why should I do that? I'd rather have income as a healthcare professional and indulge in some Poetry. As for gym equipment, I believe your esteemed Cristian De Sica knows more than I do; you see, studying biomechanics would make you aware of the reasons I prefer bodyweight exercises. Kinesthetically yours, Il_Conte.

"How many times, possibly on a Saturday when we have nothing to do, do we enjoy lounging in the long corridors or on the upper floors of warehouses, captivated by the colors of the little boxes, the big cartons, the clothes for zero price, the CDs of Gianni Togni or Mauro Lusini at 3 €" NO, WE DON'T LIKE IT, YOU WILL LIKE IT! "And how much we enjoy, in there, feeling completely the same as everyone else" AAAAAAAAAAAARRGH

Hey, wasn't Orbits on Miles Smiles?

Yes, but Frank Zappa used to beat him! ;-))) I don't think Miles didn't have the melting stick... Miss Betty was a good little pig! Yes, I play the drums and Tony is my idol. I decided to start playing after hearing him in Footprints and in the solo of Agitation. The astonishing thing is his ability to come in and out of the groove and the rejection of rhythmic "systems" (like the classic swing framework) in favor of a wonderful freedom and fluidity. So far, I haven't been completely overwhelmed yet; maybe it's because deep down I don't even aspire to emulate him... and how could anyone??

But no, come on, what assumptions? I obviously wasn't physically present, but Monk was a master for other musicians even before Minton's. People would actually go to his house to uncover the "secrets"! This is what countless testimonies say; could they all be false? I agree that Monk's and Parker's music doesn't resemble each other much, but as I mentioned before, their connection isn't stylistic; it's about a shared harmonic approach and (despite their significant differences) rhythmic sensibility.
